Where will you go?
Do you miss the wilderness
Or do you know only this moment?
Where will you go?
This chill, cruel dawn
As I stand smoking, watching
Do you miss the wilderness
The soft earth beneath you; the singing stream
To slake your thirst; the green, thrilling chase…
Or do you know only this moment?
This parched, gray, unforgiving parking lot
Where my sad eyes follow you
Excellent write :)

Your last stanza is killer, & almost a haiku; giving the trimeric a haibun feel to it; I can dig it. There is a real sense of place, of immediacy to it; the mark of good writing. Your trimeric form is fine, of course.
ReplyDeleteI specially like that last stanza as I feel pity for the orange fox who has forgotten what it means to be in the wilderness ~
ReplyDeleteWell done with the form ~ And would also appreciate it if you can visit the other poets linking up to the challenge ~
Really a nice Trimeric! One does wonder sometimes what creatures of the wild think! I enjoyed contemplating life from the point of view of the fox. Yes, do visit other writers and see what they have written.
ReplyDeleteOh I really like this one... can't believe how we shamelessly destroy the environment of all other creatures... nice touch with the sad eyes.
ReplyDeleteI lover his.... It's kind of interesting how foxes can adapt to our modern environment - sometimes I think they enjoy our cityscape
ReplyDeletethere's a sense of loss all through and sadness permeates...a great use of the form....
ReplyDeleteOh yes, sad. Yet urban foxes are on the increase, living of our learings, a different - maybe easier - kind of life.
ReplyDelete"Where my sad eyes follow you" ... there is a bit of wildness in each of us, I think, that misses the wilderness.
ReplyDeleteAh, this is a sad one. I live in foothills where too much development, along with drought, is driving these critters into neighborhoods. It breaks my heart.
ReplyDeletefeel like I can see that fox too!
ReplyDeleteI like this trimeric! A fox in the city...bring him out here to us in the country; we'd like more foxes :)
ReplyDeleteLovely, albeit sad.
