Bachelor's Blues
As careful sweat dripped from my nose,
Then all at once I would bulldoze!
And so it goes, and so it goes
When I attempt relationships
That careful sweat from my nose drips
Until a certain light switch trips
Away it slips, away it slips
“Don’t try so hard” and “just be you”
They tell me when I’m down and blue
So I arise to try anew
To see it through, to see it through
For as with blocks and army men
And all the tools of the play pen
I knock love tumbling down but then
Try it again, try it again
“Never say die” is what I say
And always hope that one fine day
Somehow I’ll find the perfect way
To make love stay, to make love stay
Love the mono rhyme stanzas, and the delightful repetition in the last line of each.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bryan. Isn't it a great form? I dig it too.
DeleteDelightful last lines on each stanza ~ This reads like a song to me ~
ReplyDeleteMakes it quite wistful, to my ear. Thanks for visiting Grace.
