Six Sentence Story :: Endgame



Murphy went for his last stripe before the eight, but scratched.

Jiles, who was already on the eight, fetched the cue-ball from the return, hefted his stick and let out a cackle.

"I've got you now, my pretty!"

Jiles placed the white ball mock-gingerly onto the green felt.

"In the side," he said, and sank the black, shooting way too hard: fool's luck.

With a muttered curse, Murphy forked over the fiver.

  7. I had a pool table in my pub. You'd have thought I'd be good at it. Wrong! My customers always beat me and it cost me an awful lot of beer!
